Why BSides?

What is BSides?

Each BSides Security Conference is a community-driven framework for building events for and by information security community members. The goal is to expand the spectrum of conversation beyond the traditional confines of space and time. It creates opportunities for individuals to both present and participate in an intimate atmosphere that encourages collaboration. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from participants. It is where conversations for the next-big-thing are happening.

What Are People Saying About BSides Chicago?

“I submitted because I think the bsides conferences are important, too many people depend on getting their experience from the bigger conventions such as Defcon or Blackhat, and miss out on the more intimate conferences where just as much information can be exchanged. As for why Chicago, I lived in Chicago for some time with my now Fiancée, I fell in love with the city and love going back.”

-Peter Ewave, Security Researcher, Alienvault

“The Executive Women’s Forum on Information Security, Risk Management and Privacy is honored to support and sponsor BSides Chicago. We share a common goal of supporting and advancing women in cybersecurity, and resonate with their community driven framework and collaborative, interactive atmosphere.”

-Lynn Terwoerds, Executive Director, Executive Women’s Forum

“I’ve been working in the Chicago area with few companies including Motorolla, State Farm, and GE Healthcare. Security professionals are working great technologies within those and other Chicago-based companies but rarely have the chance to share their practices and ideas.
For me, BSides Chicago is a great opportunity to sharing and learning from IT and security professionals from all over to Chicago. To educate and advance the industry in a location that has a relatively large number of IT students and employees.
I look forward to making some new friends, help to build a community and enjoy a great event.”

Nir Yosha, Threat Intel Engineer, ThreatQuotient

Bsides Chicago has a special place in my heart. It was the first security conference I attended back in 2013. 2014 it was where I gave my first talk. When the opportunity came to help out with it, I naturally jumped at the chance to give back to the community and the event that helped me into the world of information security.
